      <Abstract>The rapid proliferation of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI), catalyzed by advanced Large Language Models (LLMs) such as OpenAI__ampersandsignrsquo;s ChatGPT and Anthropic__ampersandsignrsquo;s Claude, has triggered a paradigm shift in the global higher education ecosystem. This literature review evaluates the dual-edged impact of GenAI on two foundational pillars of higher education: academic integrity and critical thinking. Synthesizing a comprehensive body of academic literature spanning recent breakthroughs up to 2026, this study adopts a sociotechnical framework to investigate how human-AI collaboration challenges traditional definitions of original authorship, cognitive labor, and assessment validity.</Abstract>
